Mike Bidwell is brushing off his lycra as we speak, preparing to join David Lench in the first leg of his 1,000 mile cycle ride in aid of two children’s charities: Action Medial Research and chYps.
On 6th September 2014, David Lench, Managing Director of Fine & Country Loughton, Canterbury and Isle of Wight, and Mike Bidwell, Fine & Country’s Head of Sales, will set off from Land’s End. For the first two days, David and Mike will travel from the set off point to Rackenford, a village in North Devon. David will then go on for a further 12 days, travelling on average 70 miles per day and finishing in John O’Groats on 21st September 2014.
David has set a goal of raising a total of &100,000 for the two children’s charities. So far, &53,214 has been raised. We are therefore urging Fine & Country agents to help him reach his target.
All sponsorships will be donated to two charities: Action Medial Research and chYps. Action Medial has dedicated 60 years to helping sick children through scientific research. chYps, which also focusses on the well being of young children, provides terminally ill children with full hospice care in their and their families’ preferred location.
David says, "I have done a few events for charity before including Three Peaks and climbing Kilimanjaro, but as a novice cyclist, I see this as a major task. I am slightly concerned but I have got to admit I am looking forward to actually getting started and getting it over with! Whilst I am happy with the amount we have raised so far, it is a long way away from my initial target of &100,000 so I am hoping some of our Fine & Country friends will donate!"
Mike adds, "It is certainly going to be difficult and I probably haven’t done as much training as I should have, but it’s for such a good cause; I couldn’t pass up the opportunity."
