This isn't any old walk in the park. Each year, thousands of people take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. On May 27, the GPEA team will join them.
On May 27 the group will trek through the Yorkshire Dales and climb the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The walk is generally estimated to take 12 hours, but the Peaky Blinders have decided to tackle this challenge in just 10 hours. The trek involves climbing 5,200ft (1,585m) over the 24 miles.
"I have to admit that training for this challenge has been quite pleasant. It isn't like training for a marathon which is just lots of painful running. Instead, for my training I can drag along my friends and family. A couple of weeks ago I went to France to visit my family and dragged my mum along for a walk and had a lovely time", Emilie Despois, Marketing Manager.
Emilie took part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in 2016 and did an amazing job. She went on to explain, "Last year was really fun too, but I underestimated how tired I would be for the next few days. I think I slept for almost the whole of the next day and I had to ask my friends to come over and cook dinner for me so that I didn't have to stand up".
The team includes, Taylor Barnes, Sue Garner-Stevens, Amber Ding, Rachel Kittow, Elizabeth Hyde, Belinda Robinson, Emilie Despois, Andrew Muskett & Son, Sam Lindley, Amanda Karaman, Garry Harris and Justyn Medd.
The Yorkshire Dales will be beautiful and serene, but this will nevertheless be a challenging event. Support the team and help them reach their &1,200 target by clicking here.
